Lost but never forgotten
Our beloved Bruce, the hypoallergenic Golden Doodle, crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2024, due to medical complications. Bruce was the special dog of Dave and loved by patients and staff at Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital. Bruce came to visit patients weekly for around 10 years. He brought comfort to those who knew him especially on the EAC and Adolescent units. His friendly, affectionate and gentle nature helped him be known as the “best dog ever.”
Bruce helped to make a potentially long stay in this hospital feel a little more like home. Bruce and his owner, Dave, demonstrated the epitome of joy, kindness and service. Bruce brought happiness to people who struggled with all types of mental illness. As a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, he knew he was the best dog and was recognized as a member of the Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital’s family.
